Shopping Sunday Evening

The Hermes´ Rocking Horses are superb, aren´t they?

After having lunch we went shopping. We bought English books and tasty food and when Catalina was tired we decided to go to Café Leon as a treat, and Catalina asked for a... STRAWBERRY FRAISER!!!

Sunday Morning at The Hugh Lane Gallery

Yesterday Morning, Catalina went to visit The Hugh Lane Gallery and she enjoyed it a lot. The Hugh Lane is a interesting museum in Dublin and it´s not too much large for her, so she could visit all the gallery. Her favourites "Egg Fight' (below), a sculptural installation created by Yinka Shonibare, based on themes developed in Jonathan Swift´s Gulliver´s Travels. The installation has two mannequins, Dutch wax printed cotton fabric, leather boots, replica guns, rope, polystyrene eggs and silicon; and her another fav, "Francis Bacon´s Studio", although acording to Catalina, a little messy. (below).

The Lastest Miyazaki: Ponyo on the cliff by the sea

Hayao Miyazaki in his studio.
Picture comes from http://www.elpais.com/

He gave us the delightful Porco Rosso, Mononoke Princess, Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle; his new film, Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea, is, like those others, a children's entertainment, this time loosely based on Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid.

It is the story of Ponyo, an appealing little goldfish, who longs to become human after she meets Sosuke, a five year old boy: he rescues her after she becomes stuck in a jam jar.

But Miyazaki embellishes Andersen's tale, creating a story that incorporates a lovely relationship between Sosuke and his mother Lisa, and touches on childhood fears about loss, separation and mortality, as well as environmental concerns.

The film is a visual treat. Shapes shift, objects and characters assume new forms; breathtakingly, Ponyo's goldfish sisters become crashing, fish-shaped waves.

The wonderful movie was seen at Venice Film Festival 2008, and you can already see Ponyo in Spain.

-------------------------

One month in Ireland

Catalina is having a big breakfast before coming to Ireland

Catalina is playing in Zoe´s garden. Zoe is her little friend

Catalina is right now in Ireland, she´s spending a month with me, her auntie, in the island. She´s very keen on improving her English (and her Mum too), and she is having a lot of fun.
She arrived to Ireland last Thursday and since then she is in seventh heaven. Today she has started at school, at a montessori school. She got agitated, she can´t speak English very well, but finally the school was fantastic.
Catalina loves Ireland because it´s in Ireland where she rides horses, and she enjoys riding horses so much...
I am telling more about Catalina in Ireland next days.

Her very first day at Irish school: today
